MBW Consulting Ltd, in collaboration with STUDI International and STUP Consultants, was contracted by Ministry of Works and Transport to oversee the construction supervision of Kabaale International Airport. The airport is located in Kabaale Parish, Buseruka sub-county, Hoima District, Uganda, in proximity to the Kaiso-Tonya oil fields and the proposed Uganda Oil Refinery. This development is primarily aimed at supporting Uganda’s emerging petroleum industry by facilitating the transportation of equipment required for the construction and operation of the oil refinery. Additionally, the airport is expected to stimulate growth in the agriculture and tourism sectors in Uganda’s western region.
The project included: Runway: 3,500 meters long, 45 meters wide, with 15-meter shoulders on each side, Cargo and Passenger Operations, Parking Apron (To accommodate Four (4) large aircrafts), Facilities (Cargo terminal, airport rescue and firefighting building, fuel farm, accommodation block, access roads, and parking facilities) and Equipment (Cat1 Airfield Ground Lighting system, Navigational aids system, Mobile Traffic Control Tower and the Meteorological Station System)
